The question behind the bamboo knobs

Rae had already settled on bamboo knobs when Emil asked where the warm water would come from. The finish suited the wooden surfaces Rae liked to keep visible. The plumbing deserved a little more attention.

They had agreed to consider an attachment for their shared bathroom. Rae wanted to keep the existing toilet and avoid electrical work. The TUSHY Spa 3.0 seemed to offer both, with a second knob for temperature. She had set aside half an hour on Saturday to work through the choice with Emil.

That knob mixes water from two supplies. Spa 3.0 connects to the toilet’s cold supply and the hot-water line at the bathroom sink. There is no heater inside it. Classic 3.0 uses the cold line alone, so it cannot provide the warm-water option Rae wants. You can cap the Spa’s warm inlet and use it cold-only, but that would leave her original wish unanswered.

Their sink was beside the two-piece toilet, on the same side of the room, with its hot shutoff accessible. That gave Rae a sensible place to start. She still needed to check the connections and the seat before ordering.

Follow the whole hose route

The US kit supplies a 7/8-inch tank adapter, 2-foot braided cold hose, 3/8-inch compression mini adapter and 6-foot warm tube. Check for matching accessible connections and flexible existing supply hoses. Compare fittings with the manual instead of forcing a thread that looks close.

The warm tube needs a clear, direct path from the same-side sink. Six feet is the supplied hose length, so look at the route the tube will actually take. TUSHY rules out running it across the room, under a rug or taped to a wall. A cabinet that blocks the route needs its own permitted solution. Rae’s plan did not include altering one. The short cold-water hose also has to reach its connection.

At the toilet, check at least 0.75 inch from the mounting holes to the tank and less than 3.3 inches from those holes to the bowl edge. The attachment needs a flat mounting area. More than 8 inches from the toilet centerline to its outer edge may stop the console sitting flat. Check the seat bolts, room for the right-hand controls and clearance for the nozzle as well. French-curve toilets fall outside this plan. Ask TUSHY about an unusual seat or fitting before buying.

With those checks as the condition of ordering, Rae chose the US Spa 3.0 in White/Bamboo. The $149 offer checked on October 4, 2026 was within her personal budget. Tax, shipping and any extra fittings or professional work still needed their own allowance.

Leave time for the water to arrive

Rae’s half-hour appointment with Emil was for the decision. She had little patience for setup and would arrange qualified help if the connections were unfamiliar. Installation means following the delivered manual and applicable building requirements, shutting both supplies, seating gaskets correctly and avoiding overtightening. Check for leaks immediately, after an hour and periodically.

Warmth depends on the home’s supply. Use nozzle wash to flush initially cool water, test temperature before use and increase pressure slowly. For care, use mild neutral-pH cleaner, avoid harsh chemicals around hoses and inspect parts for damage.

Rae told Emil she was happy to include the sink connection in their plan. If the fixture checks failed, they would keep the bathroom as it was while deciding what came next. She could keep the bamboo knobs she liked, and explain what the second one was actually for.

When this does not matter

You are content with cold-supply water. The extra sink connection then offers no advantage for your stated goal.

The practical fix

  1. For warm water without electricity, consider US Spa 3.0. Classic 3.0 is cold-only.
  2. Before ordering, check the matching US fittings, flexible hoses, flat toilet and seat clearances, and permitted direct same-side sink route. Allow for the supplied 2-foot cold hose and 6-foot warm tube.
  3. Follow the delivered installation instructions, including leak checks, and arrange qualified help if needed.
  4. Use nozzle wash as needed before washing, then check temperature and increase pressure slowly.

This applies if…

  • You want warm-water washing without an electrical connection and can meet Spa 3.0’s sink-supply, routing and toilet-fit requirements.

The answer changes if…

  • Your sink is across the room, the safe hose route or fittings do not match, or the attachment cannot sit correctly beneath your seat.
  • You require an attachment that heats its own water or delivers warmth instantly.

What to check in your own setup
  • This choice does not promise instant warmth, a particular temperature, universal fit or an installation time.
  • The dated product price is not a full installation budget. Additional fittings or professional work need a separate decision.
